Third Anniversary Celebration

We are very excited to announce this years Pop -Up shop which marks our 3rd year on the corner!
The past couple years took us to Mexico in search of twig laced wool blankets and chunky knit sweaters. In a addition to the Mexican wools, we have invited a few of our favourite local designers, friends and staff to participate.
You can look forward to new work from Mandula, who will be launching her line of Basics, Scatter/Gather pendant lights from Hinterland Design, jewellery from our talented baker Melissa Hudson plus several more .  I'll be posting images of things to come over the next couple weeks to give you an idea of what's in store!

   Thank you to those who were able to join us over the past weekend. Kovic Prévost single handedly prepared a dinner inspired by our "backyard". A warm, comforting menu that  celebrated what is available at the moment. Kovic was interested in cooking a meal that was locally sourced to illustrate that indeed, the humble squash can become a favourite (especially when bathed with whiskey-sage cream sauce!) and that eating what is in season isn't as difficult as it seems. Each course was thoughtfully paired with wines from our neighbour, Mark Simpson's  BC Wine Studio. We look forward to Kovic heading more dinners in the future. With both he and Pascal sharing roots in Québec, we thought it would be fitting that the next event be Home Brew Beer and Poutine. Hope to see you there!

Making things in Oroville





    The most common sight over the Thanksgiving weekend was this, everyone with their heads down, busy making things. I was fortunate to grow up with parents who make things all the time and that's how they kept us busy. It turns out that almost all the staff at Le Marché are artists of some kind, along with a good amount of our friends. Our friends Richelle and her husband Shawn came prepared with a big pot, a propane burner and a bag of materials and thread, my mother Patricia Larsen brought her years of experience of making with little more than dirt. Here's what was made with fire, left over mulled wine, milled stones, charcoal, used coffee, old books and simple bundles of grass woven onto an old board.




It is pretty inspiring to be able to create things with what's around you. Unplanned, spontaneous, resourceful and for no other reason than the sheer pleasure of making. Until next year Oroville, we'll miss you!

La Corde à Linge



 La Corde à Linge is french for Laundry Line. This is our first fall dinner at the shop and it's headed by Kovic Prévost who most of you will recognize from behind the counter. It is a most fitting name as all of the ingredients used for this dinner are either grown within City Limits, produced by a neighbour (i.e. Siren's Call wine) or supplied to us from the Valley. It is the quintessential Locavore Dinner, think homemade squash ravioli and duck breast with roasted concorde grapes!
 This is a 16 seat dinner with 4 spots already sold. If you are interested please email info@marchestgeorge.live  subject: lacordealinge. Bring cash the night of,  wine will be supplied and is included in the price.

Thanksgiving in Oroville



 This will be a 2 part post. We just spent the most amazing weekend, enjoying the last outdoor dinner of the year. It was a stellar 3 days of cooking, camp fires, toasting marshmallows, drinking brew from our friend at Alpine Brewery, carving pumpkins and most importantly making things. The second post will be about the things that were created with little more than fire, dust, leftover mulled wine, coffee grinds, sticks and leaves. It was a highly charged couple days of creativity with the best possible company. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and had time to bask in the abundance of fall and friends.

Happy Thanksgiving!




   The shop is stocked up with all sorts of goodness for my favourite dinner of the year. Rainbow carrots, yams the size of bowling balls, little jewel like cranberries, bronze pears, russet potatoes, sugar pumpkins and fresh herbs. We are headed out for 1 last outdoor dinner and promise to post some images from that. It is sure to be a stunning weekend. Hope everyone has a wonderful feast!
